Privacy policy

Short version: we collect an email address and, if you choose to give it, some details about the ADU you are planning. We do not sell or share your personal information, and you can leave at any time.

What we collect

When you sign up for updates, we store:

  • Your email address.
  • The area you told us your property is in, and the city if it is outside our coverage.
  • The consent text you agreed to, and when you agreed to it. The wording is: “Email me ADU rule updates for this area and occasional news from Boco ADU. Unsubscribe anytime.”
  • The page you signed up from, and any campaign parameters in the link you arrived through.

If you go on to fill in the optional project profile, we also store what you enter there: a name, a property address, your relationship to the property, the type and size of ADU you have in mind, what you would use it for, your timeline and any notes about the lot. Every one of those fields is optional. There is no phone number field, because we do not call people.

We store a one-way hash of your IP address for up to 24 hours purely to rate-limit the form. The hash cannot be reversed into an address, and it is not linked to your signup.

What we do not collect

We do not use cookies, and there is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to. We run no analytics, no tracking pixels and no third-party scripts of any kind. We do not profile you and we do not follow you to other sites.

Our web server keeps ordinary access logs, as any web server does. They are used to keep the site running and are not joined to your subscriber record.

When the address lookup tool launches, addresses typed into it will be neither stored nor logged unless you then submit the form.

Why we collect it

The email address is so we can send you ADU rule updates for your area. The project profile is so those updates fit your situation, and so we can understand what Boulder County homeowners are actually trying to build.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

We may share aggregated, de-identified statistics with builders, manufacturers and partners: for example, how many people in unincorporated Boulder County are waiting on the county rules, or how the sizes people have in mind break down. These summaries contain no names, no addresses and no email addresses, and cannot be traced back to an individual.

The site and its database run on our own server. One outside provider is involved: RevoMailer relays the email we send you, and processes it on our behalf.

Retention

We keep subscriber records for as long as you are subscribed, and for up to 24 months after you unsubscribe so that we do not accidentally re-add you. Rate-limiting hashes are deleted after a day. Ask us to delete your records sooner and we will.

Unsubscribing

Every email we send carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and supports your mail client’s own unsubscribe button. It takes effect immediately. You can also visit the unsubscribe page.

Your rights
